Student Assessment Program:  Currently, the full cost of an in-depth multi-disciplinary Student Assessment is $3,100.00.  HRSS provides significant scholarships to families who are unable to pay for these assessments.  Last year, HRSS spent a total of $48,678 to cover the cost for 14 students to have in-depth assessments.

Teacher Professional Development: The cost for a teacher to attend an HRSS sponsored Schools Attuned® training is $1,500.00.  Last year with support from grants, HRSS paid over $50,000 to train 28 teachers in North Hawaii.  The goal for Fiscal Year 2009 is to train and mentor an additional 28 teachers.

Teacher Mentoring:  HRSS provides teacher mentoring to those teachers who have attended the Schools Attuned® training.  This mentoring helps teachers use their newly acquired knowledge to assist all learners in their classroom.  In Fiscal Year 2008, HRSS mentored 35 teachers. 

Resource Teachers for Model School:  To assure teachers have time to receive the mentoring it provides, HRSS, pays for Art, Music and Physical Education teachers to cover and enrich classes on a weekly basis at Kohala Elementary School.

Administrative Costs:  Your donation can also help toward the relatively low administrative expenses and pay for items such as office rent, supplies, utilities, telephones, and other infrastructure necessary to deliver quality services to students, families and teachers.

HRSS appreciates the help of volunteers.  Volunteers can help in these areas:
